Over the years, Korean dramas of all genres have flooded the internet. We can see that the effect of Hallyu wave (Korean wave) has only been spreading all over the world. Hence, it is not fading away anytime soon.

'Parasite' (2019) became the first South Korean movie to win Oscars for the country. Everyone was awed by the art of storytelling of the movie, excellent cinematography and to add cherry to the cake, excellent performance by actors. The story depicted the actual scenario of class conflict still prevalent in all stratas of our life. So, we decided to dive deeper in the South Korean drama industry and unravel some of the dramas which has depicted life with its own flavor.

The synopsis

Can you count the number of mistakes that you've made in this lifetime? Have you ever ended up hurting your loved ones unknowingly? How do you move on each time you feel like giving up? Our answers are varied. But, I would often answer "Because This Is My First Life".
Each character in the drama has their own share of stories. Nam Se-hee (Lee Min Ki) is a computer designer. He lives his life on schedule and never tries to do anything different. He's in his thirties and  has no plans to get married anytime sooner.

Yoon Ji-ho (Jung So-min) is a writer, who has spent most of her life working for others without being appreciated. She is left heartbroken when she realizes that her crush is dating someone else. What worse could happen? She's homeless and without a job now. Heartbroken Ji-ho ends up sitting in the bus stand where she meets a stranger and finds comfort while talking to him. She ends up kissing him.

Yang Ho-rang ( Kim Ga-eun) is the close friend of Ji-ho who successfully finds a place to live for Ji-ho with the help of her boyfriend. Ji-ho has never seen the owner of the place where she's currently living but later on Ji-ho realizes that it is none other than Se-hee. She's embarrassed as she finds out that her landlord is the same guy whom she had kissed in the bus-stop. Will they be able to still live together?

Yang Ho-rang lives with her boyfriend,Sim Won-seok (Kim Won-seok),who is a CEO of a startup but the company is in the verge of failure as they have failed to get investors. Yang Ho-rang works as a waitress in a restaurant. They have been dating each other for long but Won-seok has never popped the question to her. Ho-rang is hopeful that he would propose her soon as she has reached her thirties. She tries various tactics to make Won-seok pop the question but she fails. Her only dream was to become a housewife but it's far from becoming true. How long can someone wait for somebody?

Woo Su-ji ( Esom) works in the male dominated corporate sector and she has been often subjected to sexist comments by her male counterparts. Her dream has always been to be the boss of a company. Ma Sang-goo (Park Byung-eun) is the boss where Se-hee works. He starts to fall for Su-ji. Will Su-ji accept him?

The drama explores friendship, marriage and the problems faced by today's youth in the new light.

 The synopsis

How was your teenage? Looking back, I always thought of how should I rate my teenage years. If I could turn back time, would I've done anything differently? 

Go Min Jae (Yoon Chan Young) is a bright student. He's introvert and he rarely interacts. His mother has decided to sent him for private tuition to improve his grades. However, he is in doubt that his mother is having an affair with somebody. 

Ahn Seo Yun (Park Shi Eun) is a teenage who's in the same class with Min Jae. Seo Yun's parents are divorced and she lives with her mother. Seo Yun wanted to go to her dream school but she fails.

Min Jae's new tuition teacher promises to reward him if he can score well in his exams. Min Jae gradually scores well in his exam and he's called by the teacher for his reward. Min Jae arrives in his teacher's apartment to find it empty. But a letter awaits for him . He is shocked to find Seo Yun as his reward meaning that Seo Yun is the call girl. Nothing happens between them that day. However, their lives soon gets intertwined after the incident. They discover that a new bond is developing between them.

The synopsis

The drama questions the institution of marriage and the meaning of family. Ji Sun-woo (Kim Hee-ae) is an associate director at Family Love Hospital. She is married to a loving husband, Lee Tae-oh ( Park Hae-joon) and has a teenage son with him named Lee Joon-young ( Jeon Jin-seo). Her life seems to be just out of movie as she has a perfect life. However, her life is overturned as she comes to know the truth that her husband has been cheating on her with another girl. 

Tae-oh loves his wife dearly but he's driven by his own inferiority complex as he has been dependent on his wife for income and also because of his unsuccessful life. When he met a young girl who thought that he was a successful businessman, he gets a reason to stand high at his grounds again. He eventually decides to cheat on his wife unknowingly with the girl.

The once happy home is now filled with vengeance, grief, infidelity and jealousy. How will the married couple overcome this? Will Ji Sun-woo ever be able to forgive her husband for his betrayal?

The synopsis


Lee Jeong-in ( Han Ji-min) is a librarian who has been dating a banker, Kwon Gi-seok (Kim Jun-han). Jeong-in's parents and Gi-seok's parents have been pressurizing them to get married. However, Gi-seok's father doesn't show a clear liking for Jeong-in. Jeong-in isn't ready for the marriage yet. 

Yoo Ji-ho (Jun Hae-in) is a pharmacist who is a single father. He hasn't dated anyone for a while now. Jeong-in runs across Ji-ho when she pays a visit to his pharmacy to get a hangover medicine. She tells him that she's in a hurry due to which she even forgot her purse in her friend's apartment who just lives nearby the pharmacy. Ji-ho suggests her that she can pay it later and they end up exchanging numbers. He even pays for her taxi that day. Jeong-in is overwhelmed by his kindness. 

Jeong-in tries to reach Ji-ho in his number but she's unable to reach him. Ji-ho doesn't reply to her texts deliberately so that they can meet each other one more time. And as he expected Jeong-in arrives in the pharmacy. Ji-ho conveys his interest for her on the second meeting but Jeong-in tells him that she already has a boyfriend. Even after she rejected Ji-ho, she can't stop thinking of him. She ends up calling him out again and again so that they can meet without any apparent reason.

Jeong-in starts to get closer with Ji-ho's son and Ji-ho's son can be often seen in her library. On the other hand, her father has started to pressurize her more to get married to Gi-seok. What decision will she take?

The synopsis

Even though, she has faced a lot of humiliation on her way, she's strong minded and she wants to honestly fulfill her dreams.

Kim Joo-man (Ahn Jae-hong ) has a permanent job at a home shopping network. He has been in relationship with Baek Seol-hee ( Song Ha-yoon) for the past 6 years. Seol-hee works in a customer service. Joo-man and Seol-hee's life seem to be the most sorted. They have been successful in their love-life and career as well. However, all is not well as their relationship is about to be put on test. Will they be able to save their relationship?

Dong-man and Ae-ra on the other hand gets chance of their life to fulfill their dreams. They also realize that their friendship has slowly started to turn into something more.
